Is Diabetes Curable?
Most doctors will tell you that diabetes is an incurable disease. If you are one of the unfortunate many who are diagnosed with diabetes, the medical establishment will expect that you will be testing your blood, watching your diet carefully and taking medication each day for the rest of your life. In itself diabetes has become its own industry, bringing in many billions of dollars each year.

In 2007 I was diagnosed with diabetes and given no hope of living a life free of this disease. Despite all the eat this, not that lists, all of the dos and do nots, publications about exercise, glycemic index pamphlets and information on how to live a productive life despite diabetes I was told that diabetes would be with me the rest of my life. I simply had to learn to live with a restrictive diet, pricking myself and a lifetime of medication. If I didnt I would die. Does that sound as hopeless to you as it did to me?

I followed all the rules. I ate more fruits and vegetables. I ate a low-fat, low-carbohydrate, low-sugar diet. I ate more fish. I exercised daily. After a time I was riding my exercise bike and walking an average of over 90 minutes daily. I did everything they told me. It had no effect whatsoever on the amount of medication I took daily, nor on the test results for blood sugar. All the effort and I was still at risk for heart disease and so many other problems.

I had heard of other people who had become diabetes free, so I knew it had to be possible. Was this something only a few could overcome? Or was it possible for anyone to overcome diabetes? I started researching articles, books and medical studies. I asked questions of people I knew who had overcome diabetes. There had to be a cure. Even the Diabetes Association had a statement on an obscure page that diabetes was curable.

After much research, I found studies that resulted in Type II diabetes sufferers being disease free and even Type I diabetes patients being cured. In one study that lasted for 90 days 100% of the Type II diabetes participants and more than half of Type I diabetes participants no longer needed medications of any sort. The rest of the Type I sufferers had their medications cut by up to 75%. Everyone who completed the 90 day program had major positive results. There was a way to cure diabetes.

Now the question was what these people went through to obtain these amazing results. Did they have to take a different kind of drug? What was the secret? After reading the protocols and cross-checking these protocols in other studies and in various books, I found the process was actually quite simple. In fact it seemed too easy, too simple. I was determined that I would give it a try. Im glad I did.

Within 45 days of starting a program I was diabetes-free. No more blood glucose meters. No more medications. I enjoy a diet free of counting calories or tracking fats, carbohydrates, proteins, sugars or anything else. I can eat what I like. And I know how and what to eat and drink so I will never experience diabetes again. Diabetes is definitely a curable ailment.

How To Get Free Diabetic Test Strips

Diabetes Testing Three Important Aspects You Need to Understand
Fasting Plasma Glucose Test (FPG)

Since the name suggests, this type of diabetic testing demands a person to "fast" to get a minimum duration of 8 hours. During the fasting period a patient is able to drink water, but not one other drink are allowable. The process on its own is straightforward.

A physician will draw a sample of blood from your patient after the fasting period and try out the glucose levels in the blood. If the blood sugar level is 126 mg/dl (milligrams per decilitre) or more, then your affected person is retested. And should the re-test reveal a similar result then the patient is diagnosed with Diabetes.

This type of diabetes testing is one of the most hassle-free; even so, it isn't always dependable, as well as the results are often border-line. When this is the case an oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT) is given.

Oral Glucose Tolerance Test (OGTT)

This involves someone to fast for 8 hours, and following the 8 hours a blood sugar level test is used. Following this initial test, glucose rich refreshment is ingested by the individual.

Afterwards the individual is asked to wait patiently one hour to allow the beverage to get distributed around the bloodstream. Using this waiting period, another blood sugar level test is implemented, and also a even more test will then be performed after another hour.

If a patient shows a blood glucose amount of 200 mg/dl (or more) after the 120 minutes, next the patient is diagnosed with diabetes. Repeated diabetes testing ought to be done to make sure that the initial outcomes before diagnoses.

This type of diabetic testing does present a level of inconvenience, but it is more reliable compared to the Fasting Plasma Glucose test.

Random Plasma Glucose Test (RPG)

This diabetic test is carried out regardless of when a person had his/her last meal.

Blood glucose levels are tried, and if the patient's blood sugar levels are above 200 mg/dl then other symptoms will also be analyzed. A health care provider will most likely examine whether the patient has shown the common symptoms associated with diabetes. These signs or symptoms include, but aren't restricted to the subsequent:
Improved hunger or thirst Unexpected weight-loss Blurry vision, fatigue, or nausea
If these symptoms are widespread along with the blood sugar levels shown by the RPG test are above 200mg/dl, then this Fasting Plasma Glucose test or Oral Plasma Glucose test will likely be executed.

From the previously referred to diabetic test, the Fasting Plasma Glucose test is one of frequently performed. This arrives mainly to the low-cost, and simplicity of the test.

Home Diabetes Testing

If an individual is diagnosed with diabetes, a different sort of diabetic test can be carried out by the individual to often keep an eye on his/her blood sugar levels. This test involves the use of a glucose meter and is performed by the patient in the ease and comfort of his/her own house.

The task requires a drop of blood to be utilized onto a test strip and that is inserted to the glucose meter. The meter will then exhibit the individual's blood glucose levels.

It is vital for a diabetes patient to regularly monitor his/her blood sugar levels to ensure the levels are kept at a satisfactory variety doing typical home diabetes testing.

Diabetes Testing and Effects of Glutathione

It is also very important for diabetics to know the benefit of Glutathione (also called GSH) since your body's super antioxidant and quite a few powerful anti-inflammatory fighters.

Diabetics have high degrees of oxidative stress and low levels of intracellular GSH.

Coupled with insulin resistance caused by inflammation, it is important any particular one understands the significance of diabetes testing and the effects of glutathione in the role it plays in aiding the healthiness of diabetics.

The advantage of procuring wholesale diabetic supplies

Author: gardnerwilkinson

People who are diagnosed with diabetes face a number of rude shocks. The first of these is the fact that the condition is a lifelong one. There is no getting over it. The second is the burden of medical supplies and diabetic testing equipment that they have to buy. The expense becomes daunting over time.

But the good news is that the condition may be managed effectively. Managing diabetes is not a difficult task. By exercising strict control over food, diet and exercise, a person can not only live long and healthy, but enjoy a good quality of life.

Diabetic patients need a regular stock of diabetic supplies. For example, a diabetes patient requires a regular supply of test strips. They also need a glucose meter, which needs to be tested from time to time. Glucose meters lose their accuracy as they age. Therefore, they will have to be changed from time to time. Patients who use strips and charts for checking their urine samples also need to buy fresh supplies regularly. Syringes, needles and insulin will also have to be restocked periodically.

Thus, a diabetic patient needs to invest a huge amount of money on replenishing their dwindling diabetic supplies. Unfortunately, Medicare does not cover the expenses of all the diabetic supplies for a month. In most cases, Medicare and insurance have a cut off limit beyond which the patient has to bear their own expenses. These recurring expenses erode savings quite substantially.

One of the reasons why people find it so difficult to bear these expenses is because of the sheer amount of money involved. Most of these supplies need to be highly accurate. Since companies assure the accuracy of their products, these supplies are expensive.

This is where wholesale diabetic supplies can be of great help. Just as in everything else, buying wholesale can help consumers save money. When manufacturers provide supplies in bulk, consumers can enjoy huge cost cuts. That is why people can save themselves huge sums of money by buying wholesale diabetic supplies.

Diabetic wholesale supplies sell all items that diabetics require from insulin syringes, strips, needle free injection pens and other supplies. Buying these supplies in bulk makes sense for consumers too as these are recurring requirements and substantial savings in cost can be made by buying bulk. However, care must be taken while storing some of these items. For instance, insulin and oral tablets will need to be well within the expiry dates and stored properly so they are safe to use.

You can avail of great discounts by buying wholesale diabetic supplies online. Most reputed online dealers have a customer friendly delivery and return policy, which makes it possible for buyers to procure the best materials at decent prices. Since online dealers do not have to spend money on inventory storage, staff or rent, they can pass on the accumulated profits to the consumers.

Buying Glucose Test Strips on Ebay Safely!

Author: Steve Bralovich

Glucose testing is a vital part of an effective blood sugar management program for people afflicted with diabetes. Having access to cost effective test strips is an absolute must but even though blood sugar testing devices have been around for over 20 years, the cost of testing strips has not declined very much, if at all.

Why is this so?

By eliminating competitors, four medical companies now dominate about 90 percent of the market which keeps prices high. These firms are in the game to make money and since the markup on test strips is so high (cost of manufacture is typically around 5 cents each, versus 85 cents to one dollar at retail) it represents a windfall profit opportunity.

At the same time, the growing number of diabetics, identified by increased medical screening, is set to generate greater demand for glucose strips in North America which means more people paying inflated prices. This is fine if a patient has medical insurance but if that's not the case it can financially over-burden them and make testing a lot harder to justify. They become torn between the dire need to test and the fiscal need to save money. A diabetic needs to test without much concern for price.

How to lower the cost.

Clearly, a way to lower the cost of test strips is desirable. New companies are showing up that have lowered the cost of testing to about 60 cents per strip but that price is still somewhat steep.

One method that has proven to lower the cost of my own blood sugar testing supplies is to buy them online on EBay. For one reason or another, people are ending up with a surplus of glucose test strips and they're auctioning them off on the world's largest garage sale.

Typically, test strips go for at least 50 percent less than retail which can bring your cost down as low as 25 - 30 cents depending on the brand and model of blood sugar monitor you use.

EBay has proven effective for me and many others but since it's an online auction, I urge you to be cautious and do your research on products and buyers before committing to anything. Before buying test strips on EBay there are some things to be wary of in order to buy safely.

It is possible to buy bargain test strips on EBay and so far I've perosnally had good experience.

But unwary buyers could get more than they bargained for. They could be opening themselves up to eye damage or unnecessary surgery if they don't know how to buy glucose strips safely. There is also the possibility of ending up with counterfeit strips, so it pays to be informed.

So go ahead and buy. But before you do, take a few minutes and get solid information before you commit and make a mistake you might regret.

Diabetic Supplies Are The Key To Diabetes Management

Author: Wangeci Kinyanjui

Diabetes is one health problem that is known for its ability to make people not enjoy their lives to the fullest. This disease interferes with the sugar levels in the body thus either making them rise or drop beyond the levels required by the body. Once diagnosed with diabetes, crucial changes in your lifestyle have to occur. These changes may include things like, avoiding food or drinks that can easily trigger fatal episodes of diabetes, engaging yourself in activities such as exercises, attending frequent medical checkups and so on. All these measures have to be done in order to manage diabetes and prevent it from getting out of hand. To further manage diabetes, diabetic supplies had to be improvised so that the patients can get to live their lives next to normal.

Diabetes drugs are among the diabetic supplies that patients can either get from pharmacies or by ordering them through the Internet. Most of these drugs are however tablets that need to be orally ingested. These drugs include; Amaryl, a drug that helps in insulin production in the body. Insulin is a hormone that acts on the excess glucose levels that may be found in the diabetic patient. Another medicine that may be supplied so as to treat diabetes is Avandia. This is a diabetic drug that increases the body's sensitivity to insulin since the drug makes the insulin stronger and much more effective to act on the excess glucose levels found in the body. However, oral medicines may at times subject the patient to side effects such as liver failure, frequent headaches or respiratory infections. Therefore, before you order or purchase them, ensure that you have sufficient information regarding what they contain and how they work.

Other diabetic supplies include Glucose Test Strips. These are instruments used to monitor the level of glucose in the patient's blood. A significant sample of blood is usually taken from the patient's fingertip and is placed on to these chemically prepared strips. After the blood sample has been placed on the strip, it usually reacts with the chemicals present in the strip and the color change that will be produced will determine the concentration levels of glucose in the blood. To know what a certain color change means, you just need to look at the side of the testing container in order to see all the meanings of the colors and the their respective instructions regarding what steps you should probably take.

Blood glucose meters are other diabetic supplies that can be availed to diabetic patients. These meters are electronic devices also used to measure the amount of glucose in the blood. Unlike the glucose test strips which require a large drop of blood for them to conduct the test, glucose meters only need a small quantity of blood to be placed on the test strip for them to give out the digital reading of the glucose level present in the blood. The digital reading that will be output by the meter will dictate the kind of action the patient should undertake.

To add on to the list of diabetic supplies are injections. These devises are often used to inject the various medicines used to treat diabetes to the patient. Something to note though is that, these injections are most of the time smaller in size as compared to the normal injections used in hospitals. A good example of these injections is the one being used to inject a diabetic medicine known as Byetta. These injections resemble pen-like injector systems and usually come with the medicine already filled in them. Once the medicine has been injected, the injections can easily be disposable.
